For those of you, my followers, and you know who you are, I have been MIA. I no longer work at my regular job, some things happened beyond my control and well, I quit. I won't go into details because it's not necessary. And to be quite frank boring. So what have I been doing all this time you ask, or wondered? I am working at a boutique. Where I sell greeting cards using my own artwork. By far, this is the best place to work. It's always been a dream of mine to be in a place where I can sell my cards.
I seem to be making a few mistakes using this laptop keyboard. Now don't get all excited, this is a chrome book, it's nothing fancy mind you. I know one thing, if you are a YouTube creator you won't be able to use those wonderful video programs. I tried to download different ones to try out, they weren't working right, so I asked my intelligent niece to help me out, and she came to the conclusion that chrome books don't have the necessary "hardware" sorry brain-fart can't think, anyway it doesn't work. It won't support files. If you don't believe me you can ask my niece she will tell you. I of course was a total wreck when she told me the news. My hopes were dashed all over the place. I use my phone to video anything DIY. I would prefer to be on my other desktop computer however, my husband thought it could be used better on his desk. Anyway I am waffling on and on....
In July, my husband's mother passed away. Of course I am here to help my hubby with hugs, and a listening ear. I know too well of grief, it's been six years since my mother passed away. At the end of our hallway, you'll see a large picture of my mother that was made in the 1950's it is a painting. When my dad was stationed overseas in Korea, he went to a place where they did this sort of thing. However, the painting shows my mother with blue eyes when in fact her eyes were green. Apparently a small miss in my dads memory. Next to her lovely picture, is a photo of my dad, he is in his uniform. He looks very dashing. Under our bed, I have a large tote filled with photos of the past. My mother was not good with tagging or writing down who was who in the photo, or where or when it was taken, so now I am left with scattered faces of memories, some I know others I don't. Something I never thought about doing was to have my mother jot down her memories on paper. I have notes and letters that she had written to me when my hubby and I were in the military. When I asked her to send a few letters my way before we left for Japan, she didn't really relish the idea to sit down and take pen in hand. She said, "oh I used to write a lot of letters to your dad when he was overseas". I could tell it wasn't something she loved to do. My happy memories were to go to the post office and find a card or letter from mom telling me all the news from home.
I guess I mentioned the above about writing down memories, because my husband's brother did what I wished I could have done, with the right equipment. He made a video documenting how his mother and dad met, also adding in music and still photos. It was quite the thing to watch this and know a little more background from their parents. Apparently I had more to share than I originally imagined. I won't go on much longer to bore you with silly details, or perhaps you enjoy the bits and bobs of my life here on this side of the globe. The mid west. Where corn stalks grow as high as an elephant's eye. And the heat has been set on high, I think we're quite done with baking. A mosquito has flown in front of my face. It looked like it had dined on something. LOL. Note to self, next time I decide to pull out the ol laptop to update this blog, don't sit in the lazy boy recliner. This chair has a tendency to rock a little.
To all have a good night or have yourself a good day. I will be seeing you again in the near future.
Sounds like leaving your old job was a good thing, nice to have somewhere to sell your cards. Sorry your new chromebook won't do what you were hoping, I am not good with all this stuff either, luckily my hubby has some knowledge and can help me when I have problems
ReplyDeleteSuch massive changes, but good ones. Chrome books are very basic machines, is probably the best way I can put it! I so enjoyed all your commentaries on your life and memories - always interesting to get to know the author of blogs I visit... that said, I am fairly limited with my giving out of information :)
ReplyDeleteIt was wonderful to have you visit me the other day - thank you
Blessings
